Paper-wrapped ESU
By popular demand, we are developing a wrapped ESU: the same trusted safety utensil, specifically designed to reduce costly and dangerous self-harm incidents for high-risk individuals, with a sanitary paper wrap.
• Sanitary paper wrap gives extra protection against the spread of communicable illnesses.
• To reduce excess material, tear off the end of the paper wrap and present to resident to grab.
• Like the original ESU, cannot be sharpened or used for flicking bio-hazards, will not cut skin, and is perforated for quicker breakdown if ingested, inserted, or flushed.
• Promotes dignity, variety, and healing vs. eating with fingers only.
• Made in the USA.
Disposable safety food tray
ESU is developing a new disposable tray designed specifically for high-risk individuals in corrections, using a new plant fiber-based technology which is dissolvable, compostable, heatable, and non-melt-able.
• The ESU tray breaks down easily and does not cause harm if eaten.
• Helps to prevent self harm and harm to others.
• Lid allows for stackability, and helps keep food warm.
• Lid is separate from the tray: choose whether or not to offer a lid.
• Tray has a separate compartment in the lid to keep cold foods cool; or, use it for a cookie or snack.
• Tray will lose rigidity after a specified period of time, to be determined by this survey – give us your feedback to help us create the best product for your needs!
